UPCOMING EVENTS:

  • NTSFI Celebrated Its 5th Anniversary In 2007!

It's hard to believe that five years have passed since a small group of Samoyed lovers gathered to discuss the possibility of forming a Samoyed breed club for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, but it's true!  In those five short years, we have grown from a small, informal group of approximately 10 people, to an AKC-affiliated breed club boasting almost 40 members!!!

In May, 2007, North Texas Samoyed Fanciers, Inc. marked its fifth anniversary.  We hope to celebrate this milestone by holding our AKC Sanctioned A/OA Match in the very near future, putting us within reach of our goal to be fully licensed by the AKC.  Watch this space for more information as we firm up the Match plans.

  •  Sanctioned A/OA Match To Be Held Soon!

We have recently received approval from the American Kennel Club (AKC) for Sanctioned-A status, the last level before reaching full-fledged AKC licensing!  Watch this space for more information about the first of our two required Sanctioned A/OA Matches, which we hope to hold soon.

  •  Obedience Classes On Hiatus

Obedience classes offered by North Texas Samoyed Fanciers are currently on hiatus. They will resume again soon.  The classes will be taught by our President, Lynn Sluder, and will be held at the Walnut Hill Recreation Center in Dallas on Sunday afternoons. Watch this space for information on the classes when they begin again.

Here's What We've Been Up To Lately:

Fourth Annual Rescue Reunion - Our Best Yet!!!

On Sunday, April 6, 2008, North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc., in conjunction with North Texas Samoyed Fanciers, Inc., hosted its Fourth Annual Rescue Reunion Picnic at the Stone Tables at White Rock Lake in Dallas. The annual Rescue Reunion Picnic is our way of saying "THANK YOU" to all of the loving families who have adopted our rescued Samoyeds over the years.

NTSRI supplied the food (hamburgers, hot dogs and all the trimmings).  Plenty of fun and fellowship for all was the order of the day as approximately 45 people and 32 rescued Samoyeds who own them attended.  It was a blizzard (of white fuzzies) in April!!!

Garage Sale To Benefit Rescue

Reaps Great Results!!!

On Saturday, September 22, 2007, North Texas Samoyed Fanciers members came together to assist North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc. in holding one of its major fundraisers of the year: a multi-family garage sale.  All proceeds from the sale benefit NTSRI's rescue efforts and help save Sammy lives.

NTSFI members worked tirelessly from early in the morning to set up the merchandise and keep the tables replenished, as well as sell to the many, many customers that stopped by and then clean up afterwards.  The resulting grand total of more than $800 equates to 1-1/2 heartworm treatments, 4 spay/neuters, or several initial exams/vaccinations for rescued Samoyeds taken into NTSRI's program.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who either donated items or came to help with the sale!  And big Sammy smiles from the deserving rescues who are the true beneficiaries of your generosity.

Mystics, Mutts & Moonpies

Was Fun In October

On Saturday, October 13, 2007, North Texas Samoyed Fanciers, in conjunction with North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc., participated for the third straight year in the "Mystics, Mutts & Moonpies" event at the Stone Tables at White Rock Lake in Dallas.

This event is a favorite among our members.  There's plenty of fun to be had by dogs and humans alike.  Dog-related organizations from all over the Metroplex were in attendance, and there was food, live bands, a pet "psychic," and plenty of vendors to visit.  NTSFI member Colleen FitzGerald offered Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing to attendees, the proceeds from which she generously donated to North Texas Samoyed Rescue, Inc.
